Celtics 15U Team Finishes 2nd at AAU State Qualifying Tournament!

April 2nd, 2013

The Illinois Celtics 15U team had a very successful beginning to its season in the AAU Boys Basketball District Qualifier on March 24th in Lisle, Illinois. The team made it to the Championship game after winning three straight games in the playoff rounds. Unfortunately, they came up a little short, losing to B&B Elite Kappa. The team finished with four wins and two losses for the weekend.

Strong performances from Devon Sams, Zach Grady, Emmanuel Rugamba, Elyjah Goss, Joseph Sieger, and Joey Martucci helped to propel the team to its success.

Head coach Rick Lenoir says, “We are pleased with the effort of the entire team, and we are glad to have some meaningful games under our belt as we jump into this long stretch of April and May tournaments.”

15U Team to Join Celtics Family

March 15th, 2013

The Illinois Celtics are excited to announce the addition of a 15U team for the 2013 Spring/Summer season. The former 2012 Illinois T-Wolves 14U team has joined the Celtics family and will now play as the Celtics 15U team this season.

Last year’s team made significant noise on the circuit, finishing with a record of 54-17. The team ended the season with a 14th place finish at the 14U AAU National Division II Tournament in Orlando, Florida. The team finished the tournament with a record of 7-3. The team begins the season as one of only three teams from Illinois listed in the 15U AAU preseason power rankings (17th) for either Division I or Division II.

Coach Rick Lenoir is expecting big things from this 15U Celtics group. “I am excited to see the growth and maturity of these guys this summer. We should be able to build on what we started last season,” Lenoir stated. The 15U group has size and the ability to shoot the ball. “We are thrilled to become a part of the Celtics family,” Lenoir added.
